State ownership and became “forever wild” protected lands.  The acquired parcels lie next to the 1200-acre Big Indian Parcel that DEC has already bought and classified.

The Coalition will continue to press for other priority acquisitions, including the 145-acre Bowman Owen property in the Beaverkill.  Consisting of two parcels that border Forest Preserve land on all sides, their acquisition would provide a contiguous Forest Preserve holding in the area.  We would like to ensure that this project is completed and the land added to the Forest Preserve in 2014.
